I’ve been workin’ my fingers to the bone getting captions and summaries but they’re done. I may add a few but I’ll let you know if I do. Click the image below to go to the album. And there are no captions in any of the other albums I’ve started

And we are. I mean it this time. The paper hanger dude will be here Monday to do the dining room. And she’s promised that’s the end. For now. But that’s okay. And she keeps buying stuff to go with the new look. And that’s okay too. The below clip from Delbert McClinton’s “I’m With You” sorta splains how I feel about it.

And pics next week. I promise.

Oh yeah. He says it may be a 2 or 3 day job but then it’s over. And boy, are we looking forward to that.

The wire pulling dude showed up yesterday and guess what? He doesn’t do what I need done and the person that answered the phone said they did. Oh well. I may have to climb into the attic and pull some wire myuself. At least it’s not a bunch of hot up there now like it was a few weeks ago.

The patch it up, paint it up guy finished yesterday. He laid the bathroom tile Monday and grouted Tuesday. Then yesterday he finished a bit of painting, sealed the bathroom floor tile and grout along with the backsplash tile and grout. He then gave me the balance due and I gave him the final check.

There was one problem. When I picked up the last 6 boxes of floor tile, I didn’t notice a couple of them were a bit different. Same pattern but with additional color. A kind of bluish gray overtone. I didn’t want to wait any longer and since each closet took about 2 boxes of tile I told him to put it in my closet. Nobody sees it but us and she rarely see my closet floor so what the hell? And for a job this size, I’m damned happy that’s the only thing that went a bit off-center.

Today we hang our clothes back up in the closets, put our shoes and stuff back in and we’re done.

Paper hanger Monday and the electrician/network wiring dude when I call him. Oh, did I tell you? We now have a wall hung HD in the bedroom.

Damn, that woman can spend money. But I have to admit she spends it well. She found some more pretty stuff for the house today. Chase Bank loves us. But like I’ve said before; it’s us, then the pets, then the daughter-in-law. But I’m not planning on leaving a hell of a lot. In a few years I may even sell this big ol’ place and get a smaller one. More money for us to spend. I told my sons if we do this right, they’ll each have to chip in about $5 apiece to bury the last one of us to move beyond this veil. I made it, we saved it and we can damn well spend it. And spend it she is. But it’s fun watching her have a good time. And she has really done a great job on this place. Wait’ll you see the finished project.

And it won’t be long. The rest of the floor tile is here and our patch it up paint it up dude will be here Monday to finish his part and the following Monday the wallpaper guy and then it’s over.

The floor tile was sealed and the backsplash grouted yesterday. The master bath tile will be installed when it comes in next week. And the wallpaper dude will be here the 24th. Puhraaze Jeezus.

Now I’m in the process of dusting everything in the frickin’ house and trying to remember where all the small shit was. And moving furniture back to where it was. Or where Mrs Myron wants it now.

And did I mention dusting? It’s truly amazing how much dust was stirred up or created in the process of getting new carpet and tile. Damnation it’s a mess.

Joss Stone is on. Damn, that girl has some really LOW low riders on. Plus she can sing.

Well, the floor tile is in and grouted. They’ll seal it tomorrow. They did the backsplash today and will grout it tomorrow then seal it when they do the master bath floor. I’ll call the wallpaper dude tomorrow and set that up. Hopefully for next week. Damn, it’s almost over.

Mrs Myron and I did our sleep study last Friday with the machine on. She said it was one of the best night’s sleep she’s had in a very long time. Me, not so good. I slept okay from around 11 until about 3:30. The mask was too tight and hurt my face. Couldn’t go back to sleep. Saw the doc today and he wrote us both a scrip for one. He did say we both are at the point where if we can’t wear it or can’t get sleep with it on we are not at a major risk for anything. We both stop breathing at the lowest frequency that he prescribes the CPAP for. And our son also. He said that’s a first. He’s had father and sons that had very similar sleep patterns but this is the first time he’s had both parents and a child. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Well, the new carpet is in the bedroom, living room, dining room, upstairs game room and the stairs. You know what french roll is on the stairs? I didn’t but Mrs Myron did and had to have it. So I got some 2 X 4s, ripped ‘em and cut to the length required. Makes for some good looking stairs. Damn I’m glad I married her.

Granite’s in the kitchen, around the fireplace, on the mantle and on the two cabinets on either side of the fireplace. Boy, that is some dusty shit when they’re working on it. I’m just glad it was a sunny day so they could do the majority of the cutting and grinding in the driveway.

Kitchen cabinets have been stripped and stained and will be varnished Monday. You’ll have to see the before and afters.

I’ve got photos of all this stuff and promise I’ll have some before and after when the dust settles. In the meantime I have some stuff in my gallery that shows some of what we’ve been doing. To view them clickety click. And yeah, I gots me own domain now. How’s that for vanity? I’ll let you know when it’s all done up and purty.

Sitting here listening to my Pandora.com Diana Krall station and heard a new one to me. Not by Diana. By A Camp. It’s called Song For The Leftovers. Ever feel like a leftover? Anyway, here’s a video for your watching pleasure:

Well, the stairs are being squared off. The 2 bottom steps. Some folks think we’re crazy ’cause these stairs are one of this builders trademarks. I tell ‘em if the builder lived here he could have it anyway he wants it. Mrs Myron wants them squared off, squared off they’ll be.

And the family room painted.

And the granite has changed. Again. There was a problem with the slabs we had last chosen. Now we’re going with Verde Fontaine, a mix of greens, greys, and blacks from South Africa. The up side is it’s a Level 2 in price so we decided to go ahead and get the fireplace surround that is currently marble done in granite and the 2 cabinet tops on either side of the fireplace as well.

Oh yeah. The armoire for the TV came last night. I’m moving everything into it today. That is one big sumbich.

Photos later. I promise.

Some days you’re the 18 wheeler and some days you’re the road pizza. Last week when the shutter setter upper was here, one of the 14 plantation shutters had a ding in it so he didn’t install it. IF they have the parts in California we should get it in a week or two. If they have to remake it’ll be another six weeks. But it’s for the dining room which is never used. And the fan shaped one for the master bath window won’t be ready until next week if we’re lucky. But the rooms that did get ‘em look great. I promise there’ll be photos.

Today I found out that the granite we like is a level 5 (price) and that’s as high as it goes. Gonna cost a bit more. But it’s Italian for whatever the fuck that’s worth. Plus he can’t install it until Friday of next week. And this after the island boy installed the new grande isle last Wednesday. And it doesn’t have a top because the granite dudes install new plywood when they install the granite. And I threw the old cooktop out so we’re eating a lot of take out. And the window dude couldn’t install Mrs Myron’s garden window today as promised. Maybe tomorrow. And the frameless shower dude called and told me one of the pieces was broken so we still have to shower upstairs until Thursday. At best. Oh yeah. Mrs Myron’s new lift chair hasn’t charged lately so it won’t run. At least she was downstairs and not upstairs when it quit. But the tile store called and our floor tile is in so that should start in a few days.

Here’s a photo of a sample of the granite we’re getting. It’s called Arctic Rainbow. Don’t ask me why. It’s from Italy, not the arctic and it damn sure doesn’t look like a rainbow to me. Anyway, we like it.

Below is a Photoshopped rendition of what it may look like. Except we have a black granite undermount sink and a fancy nearly black faucet but what do you think? This is one of several backsplash designs Mrs Myron’s working on.

If you’re planning on new floor or shower or counter or what ever tile, go to Master Tile, set up an account and drive yourself crazy with designing your project.

"You sleep safe in your beds, because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do you harm." George Orwell

"Those who cling to the untrue doctrine that violence never settles anything would be advised to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and of the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler could referee, and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger Pigeon. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Nations and peoples who forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms. " Robert A. Heinlein
