You know, next February the TV stations are only going to transmit ones and zeros. Here’s a PSA to make sure you’re ready.
There was damn little to be admired about any of the characters but it was still a great show. Do you ever wonder what happened after Meadow walked into the restaurant? Sure you do.
Don’t know how old this is because I don’t watch commercials. But it’s funny.
This is still funny after all these years.
The DVD of the early years of Sesame Street is recommended for adults only. You really can’t make this shit up. I saw it on the news on the TV box this morning. Click here to read an article about it. What kind of lame brain dreams this shit up?????

Spongebob Squarepants, The Simpsons, South Park, et al are okay for my grand kids to watch but Sesame Street The Early Years ain’t? Did Mrs Myron and I cause irreparable harm to our poor unfortunate boys by allowing them to watch Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch? Give.Me.A.Fuckin’.Break.
Have you watched this Dr. Who spin off? I like the hell out of it. Here’s what they say about it on the BBC site:
“Torchwood will be a dark, clever, wild, sexy, British crime/sci-fi paranoid thriller cop show with a sense of humour – the X Files meets This Life,” says Russell T Davies.
“It’s a renegade bunch of investigators charged by the British government to find alien technology that has fallen to Earth,” BBC Three controller Stuart Murphy told The Independent.
The show will be set in Cardiff, and will be 13 45-minute episodes, transmitting between series of Doctor Who. Confirmed writers include Sapphire and Steel creator PJ Hammond.
And BBCA sold it to HDNet so I gets to see it in Hi Def. And it’s good. Here’s a clip I made from a recent episode. Toshiko, a member of Torchwood has been given an alien pendant that allows her to read other peoples thoughts. And it is driving her crazy. Not really crazy but its very unsettling to her.
And it bothers me no end. I record my local 10 pm news and watch it over my home made sausage and egg biscuit. Well, there was a football game on NBC last night, wasn’t there? And yep, it ran over. Big.Fuckin.Surprise. There were 34 minutes left at the start of the recording. The little game timer showed 1:48 left in the game. When the game timer hit 0:0 there were 23 minutes left on the recording timer. 11 minutes to play 1:48. That is absolutely ridiculous. I know, I know. It was the final 2 minutes so the clock stops for everything. Well, I remember when you had 2 minutes to play the final 2 minutes unless you had some timeouts left.
And football isn’t the only thing that does it. Golf, basketball, NASCAR, you name it. If it’s a sports broadcast, you can almost make a bet that it will run over. This really gets up my nose. I wish there were more old curmudgeons like me to complain to the networks instead of so many people who are willing to spend time and money watching a bunch of over paid grown ups playing games only for the money. I know some of the players claim to love the game but cut their salaries to about $50,000 per season and see how much love you get.
Actually, I’ve watched a variety of programs. A lot of music. Soundstage is on several times a day on RAVE channel on Dish. And concert specials like Phil Collins: Finally, The First Farewell Concert. Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton and The Bluesbreakers Celebrate John Mayall’s 70th Birthday, George Jones: 50 Years of Music, etc. I saw Kasey Chambers opening one Soundstage. And as posted below Tori Amos. And sessions from Montreaux Jazz Festival with various players. It’s great.
And there is a program called Sunrise America. I took a hot air balloon ride across the Green Mountains in Vermont, watched sunrise in Yosemite and I’ve set the timer for sunrise in Sequoia and the start of the lobster men’s day in Maine. The great thing about this program is the audio is composed of only nature’s sounds. Birds calling, wind blowing, water falls roaring etc. Discover Channel has some great HD programming as well. I took a helicopter ride across Arizona. And Emiril is another one that shouldn’t be on HDTV.
And movies. HBO, CineMax, Showtime and Starz each have a HD channel. And some old movies. UniversalHD and HDNetMovies show movies in their original aspect ratio. I’ve seen The Wild One, Easy Rider, Joe Kidd, Das Boot, and Five Easy Pieces.
And my locals are in HD so I saw the season finales of several in HD. Powers Booth is another one that should hide from HD cameras.
Here’s a photo of my set while watching the Yosemite program and one of Tori. The bridge on the top of the entertainment center is at the cabinet makers. Too narrow for this big boy.

I just watched this Soundstage in HD and surround today. Damn, that red hair and those green eyes…. If you don’t have a high def, run right out and get one. I’m getting ready for bed now but I’ll tell you more tomorrow about what I’ve been enjoying. For now, here’s Tori.
The 65″ Toshiba was delivered yesterday. When we turned it on to check all inputs and then put it on a couple of the HD channels that Dish has, Mrs Myron said “don’t touch a thing. That’s the best picture I’ve ever seen.” And that is right out of the box at factory settings. I watched and recorded several music programs. I may even start liking a few new artists. The picture is so damn good I can watch it with the sound muted. More later. I gots some TV to watch.
